HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons and the Eagles competed in a hotly contested match that saw both team's defenses withstand a multitude of attacks.  Montevallo goalkeeper Judith Perez-Bayon faced two quick shots to begin the match and made miraculous saves early to keep the Falcons in the game.
  • The only goal of the match was scored in the 24th minute off a penalty kick that was awarded to the Eagles.  A hard tackle in the box midway through the first half awarded Faulkner with the free shot on goal.  Faulkner's Heather Lashley found the bottom left corner of the net to beat Perez-Bayon and gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
  • The Falcons had multiple opportunities to put shots on goal but were unable to beat the goalkeeper and break through the Eagles defense.

STAT OF THE GAME

Both teams managed 12 shots in today's match with the Falcons putting six of them on frame. Perez-Bayon finished the day with six saves.

UP NEXT

The Falcons will now head out on the road to open up conference play at Francis Marion this Saturday, September 17th.  That match is scheduled for a 12:30 CT start.
