How It Happened
- Six newcomers were in the starting lineup for the Falcons in tonight's home opener, including goalkeeper Judith Bayon who finished the night with five saves.
- On the offensive front, head coach Robert Lane experimented with several substitution combinations, his first of the day brought the opening goal. Hampton Brinson hustled for a loose ball near the corner flag and sent it into the box for M.J. Gray. Gray gathered the ball and then found a crashing Simone Nelson for the Falcons first goal.
- The Lady Statesmen tried turning it around in the second half, recording 10 total shots and scoring within the first 10 seconds of the half. Anoucke Baas found Sam Naughton who rifled one past the diving Bayon for the equalizer.
- The Falcons answered back with two more goals after some impressive footwork from Freshmen Michaela Franklin and Tylor Ring found Tayler Kukes on the right side for goal number two. Later, the aggressive midfielder, Hannah Williamson produced a lovely ball to Franklin in the open field, who found the back of the net and gave Montevallo the 3-1 lead and the win.
Stat of the Game
Freshman goalkeeper Judith Bayon from Barcelona, Spain started in her first game as a Falcon and recorded five saves. The back line and Bayon worked together to only allow one of six shots on goal to result in a score.
