HOW IT HAPPENED

Montevallo held off a late rally by Georgia Southwestern in a 66-63 victory over the Hurricanes in a Peach Belt Conference contest.

The Falcons jumped out to an early eight-point lead over Georgia Southwestern thanks to eight quick points from junior Jamar Taylor in the first four and a half minutes of play.
Georgia Southwestern overcame the early deficit to lead 37-35 at the break.

The Hurricanes overcame a double-digit deficit in the second half to make it a one-possession game in the final moments thanks to Brandon Price, who finished with 21 points, and Tevin Wise, who led the 'Canes with 22 points. A jumper by Price trimmed the deficit to three points late in the contest. However, the Falcons' victory was secured when Wise missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The score was tied only twice in the conference matchup but included six lead changes due in part to impressive 3-point shooting by the Hurricanes in the second half with 42 percent shooting as a team from downtown.

Montevallo dominated the glass, out rebounding the 'Canes 34-29, and outscored Georgia Southwestern 30-18 in the paint.

STAT OF THE GAME

Junior Jamar Taylor scored 28 points against the Hurricanes on 56 percent shooting from the field and 86 percent from the free-throw line. Taylor, who registered his second double-double of the season after pulling down 10 rebounds, has scored 80 points in the last three games.
