HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Falcons and the Hurricanes faced off in a PBC West Division matchup that went down to the wire.  Montevallo overcame an 11 point deficit to Georgia Southwestern, but in the end was unable to hold off the surging Hurricanes in the final period of play.

-Neither team was able to get out ahead of the other in the opening period of play.  The largest lead of the period was a four point lead that was held by Montevallo early in the period.  Both teams tried to establish dominance in the paint early with each team scoring 10 points.  The Falcons were outscored by the Hurricanes 17-16 in the period.

-Late in the second period, the Falcons faced an 11 point deficit due to costly turnovers and also struggled to keep the Hurricanes off the offensive glass.  Georgia Southwestern grabbed five offensive rebounds in the period and turned that into eight points. However, the Falcons went on a 7-2 run to end the half and trailed the Hurricanes 38-32 heading into the break.

-In the first half Montevallo was led by Morgan Smith on the offensive side of the ball and scored 10 points.  Albanellys Perez dominated the glass in the first half with seven rebounds for Montevallo.

-In the third period, Montevallo came out firing on all cylinders and retook the lead with 2:19 left to play in the period.  Montevallo outscored Georgia Southwestern 26-17 in the period, with seven of them coming from second chance points.

-Montevallo pushed the lead to five points, their largest of the game.  Montevallo was held to eight points offensively in the final period as the Hurricanes came back to win 71-66.

STAT OF THE GAME

The Falcons had two players record a double-double in tonight's game.  Perez and Jazmine Stubblefield both recorded double figures in both points and rebounds.  Perez finished the night with 10 points and 11 rebounds and Stubblefield finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
