HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons traveled to Georgia College to face the Bobcats in their first of two meetings this season. The Bobcats came away with a 70-62 victory over the Falcons.
The first period of play saw the score tied three times and featured four lead changes as the Falcons and the Bobcats matched each other basket for basket. Montevallo was active on the defensive end, causing five turnovers, and scoring five points off those turnovers. Both teams tried to establish their dominance inside early on, with Montevallo holding a 10-8 edge on points scored in the paint. Montevallo trailed the Bobcats after the opening period 23-20.
In the second period, both teams continued the physical play. Montevallo continued to be active on the defensive glass and out-rebounded Georgia College 12-5 in the period. The Falcons also continued their physical play in the paint, scoring six of their second period points down low. The Falcons entered the break trailing the Bobcats 39-36.
Morgan Smith led the Falcons in the opening half with 12 points and went 4-of-7 from the field. On the boards, Ashley Dunstan led all players with five rebounds in the half, three of which were offensive.
The second half woes continued this season for the Falcons as their offense stalled in the third period. The Bobcats went on an 11-1 run to begin the third period. The Falcons 4:40 scoring drought was brought to an end when Haven Albright hit a 3-pointer to bring Montevallo within 10 points of the lead. The Falcons were outscored in the period 16-8 and the Bobcats led by 11 points heading into the game's final period.
In the fourth period, Montevallo began to finds its offensive groove once again. Montevallo was able to cut the Bobcats lead to four points late in the period but that was the closest they got. The Bobcats hit their free throws down the stretch to hold on to a 70-62 victory.

Morgan Smith led the Falcons with 15 points on 5-of-14 shooting and also grabbed three rebounds.
