HOW IT HAPPENED

Montevallo had a slow start in the opening half of play, scoring only 19 points against the Nighthawks.  Montevallo trailed North Georgia at the half by a score of 34-19.

North Georgia's Ross Morkem led all players in the opening half of play with 14 points and went a perfect 7-of-7 from the field.

For the Falcons, Javonte Douglas led the way and scored 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting.  Douglas also grabbed five rebounds in the first half.

The Falcons made a crucial run in the second half that to cut the Nighthawks lead to two points with 6:52 remaining in the game. The 14-2 run was started with a Douglas 3-pointer.  Douglas proceeded to hit three more from behind the arc to pull the Falcons to within four points of the lead.  A layup from Kevin Kelly capped off the Falcons run as Montevallo trailed North Georgia 43-45

The game was tied after a hectic turn of events in the final minute. A one-point Montevallo lead disappeared thanks to a Nighthawks' free throw. The second free throw was made but was called off because of a North Georgia lane violation. The Falcons failed to inbound the ball successfully on two occasions, which gave the visitors the final possession with 7.5 seconds remaining. Freshman Ephraim Tshimanga hit a running jumper at the buzzer to give North Georgia their second consecutive win at Trustmark Arena.

STAT OF THE GAME

Javonte Douglas registered his ninth double-double of the season. Douglas scored 26 points and 11 rebounds, which were both game highs in the Falcon's loss.
