HOW IT HAPPENED

Visiting UNC Pembroke erased a double-digit deficit in the second half on its way to a 92-83 win over Montevallo in a Peach Belt Conference contest.

The Braves jumped out to an early 17-11 lead following a jumper by Carson Mounce with 12:33 remaining in the opening half.

Montevallo responded with a 25-10 run over the next eight minutes and took its largest lead in the first half on a 3-pointer by junior Jamaar Taylor with 4:28 left in the half, which gave the Falcons a 36-27 advantage.

The Falcons carried a 42-35 lead into the locker room at halftime after ending the half on a 6-0 run, capped with a layup by freshman Josh Brownfield with 39 seconds remaining in the period.

Montevallo extended its lead to 59-47 following a 3-pointer by senior Tazz Marbury with 14:22 remaining in the contest, with the 12-point advantage marking the Falcons' largest lead in the game.

UNC Pembroke responded with an impressive 23-10 run and took its first lead in the second half on a layup by Alex Bradley with 6:55 remaining in the game, which gave the Braves a 70-69 lead.

The Braves took control over the final six minutes and slowly expanded their lead down the stretch.

STAT OF THE GAME

Junior Jamaar Taylor scored a career-high 32 points on 13-of-20 shooting from the floor. Taylor has scored 52 points in the Falcons' past two games.

The Falcons will host Georgia Southwestern in another Peach Belt Conference contest Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Trustmark Arena. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
