CLINTON, Miss. – The University of Montevallo women's soccer team was defeated by Mississippi College 2-1 in Gulf South Conference play.
Montevallo played their first game of their two-game Mississippi road trip at Mississippi College.
The first half was an even contest with both teams recording six shots. Mississippi College had the lone shot on goal in the first 45 minutes of play. Samara Lino and Kira Bochard both took two shots in the first half for the Falcons.
Montevallo opened the second half dominant as Senior Taylor Gonzales scored unassisted in the 48' minute to give the Falcons the 1-0 lead.
Mississippi College went on to control the rest of the second half putting up 14 shots and six shots on goal.
In the 73' minute Mississippi College's Lauren Smith tied the game at 1-1 off an assist from Liza Wise for her sixth goal of the season.
Mississippi continued to dominate possession and in the 86' minute Liza Wise scored the game-winning goal from outside the 18-yard box to go ahead 2-1.

GAME NOTES
• Mississippi College outshot Montevallo in the second half, 14 to 1 and 6 to 1 in shots on goal.
• Smith's goal was her 6th of the season which puts her alone as the team's leading scorer.
• Wise's goal was her first of the season.
• After winning their second game in a row, the win gives Mississippi College their 11th of the season and 10th in conference.
• The Choctaws led the game's corner count 10 to 3.
• Gonzales's goal was her second of the season. Gonzales had the only shot on goal for the Falcons. Kira Bochard and Samara Lino had two shots apiece.
• Montevallo committed 10 fouls in today's match to the Choctaws 5, including a yellow card in the 75th minute by Tayler Kukes.
