RECAP
IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Montevallo was defeated 76-66 by the Concordia University Eagles in the first of two games that the Falcons will play in the state of California this week.
Montevallo is now 1-2 overall on the season with tonight's loss to the Eagles.
Montevallo jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first period off a three-pointer from Paige Ward. The Falcons led for most of the first period and pushed their lead to as many as five points in the period.  The Eagles closed the gap and took the lead with 2:55 left in the first period. However, that lead was short-lived as another three-pointer from Ward put the Falcons back in front. Jomekia Morine hit a layup in the final minute to close out the period with the Falcons holding onto a one-point lead, 15-14.
The Eagles took the lead to start the second period and never relinquished it. Concordia was able to push their lead over the Falcons to as many as eight points. Montevallo went on a 7-0 run late in the period to cut the lead down to one point. The Eagles hit a free throw and a layup to close out the period and headed into halftime with a 32-28 lead.
Montevallo trailed the rest of the game even though they were able to pull within a point of the Eagles at the beginning of the period. The Eagles led by 11 points in the final minute of the period, but a 4-0 Falcon run to end the period made it a 56-49 ball game.
The Falcons were unable to overcome the Eagles offensive attack and trailed by 15 points late in the fourth period. Montevallo cut the deficit to 10-points late in the game as the Eagles held on to claim a 76-66 victory over the Falcons.
