  • Montevallo shot 68.5 percent from the floor and 57.1 from beyond the arc, compared to a 33.8 percent shooting from the field and 28.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc by the visitors.
  • The Falcons' 68.5 percent shooting from the floor marked the program's third-best field-goal percentage in a single game.
  • Montevallo outrebounded Virgin Islands 43-27, including 33 defensive rebounds to just 10 by the Bucs.
  • The Falcons had three players with double-digit scoring. Senior Jamaar Taylor, as well as juniors Zach Jackson and Chris Williams had fantastic scoring nights with 24, 22 and 16 points respectively.
  • Jackson finished with the first double-double of his career with 22 points and 11 rebounds after shooting 11-of-12 from the floor, which tied the Falcons' record for shooting percentage (91.7 percent) in a single game.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's basketball team wrapped up preparation for Gulf South Conference play Nov. 27 with an emphatic 97-61 win over the University of the Virgin Islands at Trustmark Arena.

Montevallo scored the opening 12 points and raced out to a lead that they never surrendered. Senior Jamaar Taylor had a massive first half and the team shot 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. They led by 23 points at the break over the visitors.

The Buccaneers' Justin Syphoe had a good second half after a quiet opening 20 minutes and finished with 13 points, but it was another guard who stole the show in the second.

Lawson State Community College transfer Zach Jackson recorded a double-double thanks in part to a dominant second half. The junior finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds and shot 11 for 12 from the floor, which tied the Falcons' program record for shooting percentage in a single game.

Montevallo also outscored Virgin Islands 50-18 in the paint.
