  • Valdosta State outlasted Montevallo in a fast-paced three-overtime contest that saw both teams shoot better than 50 percent from the field and from beyond the arc.
  • The Blazers shot 56.8 percent from the floor and 52.6 percent from 3-point range, while the Falcons finished the contest shooting 51.1 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
  • Senior Jamaar Taylor scored a career-high 40 points, which tied him for the third highest scoring total in a single game in program history. Taylor, who also grabbed eight rebounds, finished 14-of-28 from the floor and 5-of-9 from beyond the arc while also knocking down all seven free-throw attempts.
  • Junior Chris Williams played all 55 minutes of the contest and added a career-high 36 points on 9-of-21 shooting from the floor and 17-of-19 shooting from the charity stripe while also grabbing a career-best 11 rebounds as he posted the first double-double of his collegiate career.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. -  The University of Montevallo men's basketball team fell to host Valdosta State University 139-135 in a fast-paced three-overtime contest Dec. 16 that saw both teams shoot better than 50 percent from the field and from beyond the arc.

The Blazers (8-2 overall, 1-1 in Gulf South Conference) shot 56.8 percent from the floor and 52.6 percent from 3-point range, while the Falcons (6-6 overall, 1-2 in Gulf South Conference) finished the contest shooting 51.1 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc.

Senior Jamaar Taylor scored a career-high 40 points, which tied him for the third highest scoring total in a single game in program history. Taylor, who also grabbed eight rebounds, finished 14-of-28 from the floor and 5-of-9 from beyond the arc while also knocking down all seven free-throw attempts.
