HOW IT HAPPENED
Nationall-ranked Columbus State defeated Montevallo 72-53 in a Peach Belt Conference contest on Senior Day at Trustmark Arena.
The Cougars outscored the Falcons 20-11 in the first period.
In the second period, hot shooting from Ashley Dunstan helped the Falcons stay in the game and keep the deficit at a manageable 38-28 at halftime.
Columbus State pulled away by outscoring Montevallo 23-15 in the third period as the Cougars won their 13th game in a row.
Dunstan led all scorers with a career-high 28 points on 11-15 shooting from the field.
Ashley Asouzu led scoring for the Cougars with 24 points and led all players in rebounds with 16 boards.
Dunstan, along with Alba Perez' eight points and D'Miyah Foster's 11 points, scored a combined 47 of the Falcons' 53 points in the game.
