HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons and the Nighthawks squared off in Peach Belt Conference play on Wednesday night.  The Falcons got behind early in the first period as they allowed the Nighthawks to jump out to a 15-5 lead midway through the opening period.  The Falcons began to cut into the North Georgia lead and pulled it to a 17-14 game with 2:36 remaining in the period before the Nighthawks hit a pair of baskets to end the period up 20-14.

The Nighthawks pushed the lead to 10 points again in the second period but Montevallo kept fighting and wouldn't allow North Georgia to pull away.  With a minute left in the period, Brittany Wood hit a three-pointer to pull the Falcons to within one point of the lead. With 47 seconds remaining, the Nighthawks drained a jumper to take a 32-29 lead into the break.

After hitting a jumper to open the third period, the Falcons offense started to bog down as North Georgia held Montevallo to nine points in the period.  The Nighthawks outscored the Falcons 17-9 in the third period and took a 49-38 lead into the final period of play.

Montevallo started to get their offense rolling again in the fourth period but couldn't keep pace with the Nighthawks.  North Georgia outscored the Falcons 22-18 in the final period to cruise to a 71-56 victory.

STAT OF THE GAME

Ashely Dunstan led the Falcons on the offensive end with 20 points scored in tonight's game on 7-of-10 shooting. 

Albanellys Perez led all Falcon players on the glass and grabbed a total of 10 rebounds.

UP NEXT

The Falcons will take a week off to prepare for their final game of the season.  Montevallo will travel to Clayton State on Wednesday, February 22nd to face off against the Lakers.  Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 pm ET.
