HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons and the Bearcats took the field in game two of the series on Saturday afternoon. It took until the 11th inning to decide a winner as the Bearcats came away with an 11-8 victory.
Lander jumped on the board in the top of the first inning on a RBI single into right field to take an early 1-0 lead over Montevallo.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Falcons answered back with a run of their own that came off the bat of Sebastian Samuels. Samuels connected for a solo homerun to left center field to tie the game at 1-1.
Montevallo took the lead in the bottom of the third frame when Caleb Ledbetter was brought home to score on a Dom DeVille single into left centerfield. Ledbetter's run made it a 2-1 game in favor of the Falcons.
Kale Lattore did not allow another run across until the seventh inning when a pair of two RBI home runs by Lander made it a 5-2 game.
Lander made it a 7-2 ballgame in the eighth inning when it plated a pair of runs to extend their lead over the Falcons.
Montevallo came back to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth inning after scoring five runs. Jacob Whiting hit an RBI double to get the rally going for the Falcons and scored DeVille. On the next at-bat, Collin Dupree doubled into right field to score both Ryan Brooks and Whiting and pulled the Falcons to 7-5. Furuto had a two-RBI single into center field that scored a pair of runs to tie the game at 7-7.
Neither team was able to score a run until the 11th inning when Lander plated four runners to take an 11-7 lead.
Montevallo got a run back in the bottom of the 11th inning on a RBI double from Furuto that scored Dupree. The Falcons offense stalled in the bottom of the inning as Lander held on for the victory.
Latorre got the start on the mound for the Falcons and pitched seven innings. Latorre struck out 11 batters and gave up five runs in the game.
Anthony Porter came in to throw the eighth inning and gave up two runs on two hits.
Cas Silber (1-1) entered the game in the ninth inning and pitched 2 2/3 innings and struck out four batters in tonight's performance. Silber was credited with the loss after giving up the lead in the top of the 11th inning.

The Falcons will wrap up the series with the Bearcats on Sunday, February 26th with the first pitch scheduled for 12:00 pm CT.
