HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons traveled to face Georgia Southwestern in their last game as Peach Belt Conference opponents.
The Falcons jumped out early on the Hurricanes and took an early five-point lead in the first period. The opening period saw the score tied four times as neither team was able to gain any separation. After the Hurricanes took a 13-11 lead with 3:22 remaining in the period, Ashli Tyus knotted the game up with a 3-pointer. The Falcons took the lead on the next possession and at the end of the period led the Hurricanes 18-16.
The second period went much like the first as the period saw the lead change hands five times and the score was tied four times. Jazmine Stubblefield was 2-of-3 from behind the arc in the period. Montevallo also took advantage of the Hurricanes sloppy play scoring five points on Hurricane turnovers.Â
Despite both teams appearing to be evenly matched in the first half, the Hurricanes were able to sneak out a two-point lead heading into the break.
In the third period, the Falcons came out flat and were outscored 19-2 in the period. Montevallo had a difficult time finding their offensive rhythm as the Hurricanes took advantage and pushed their lead to 19 points.Â
The Falcons started to claw their way back into the game in the fourth period but were unable to overcome the Hurricanes lead. Montevallo outscored the Hurricanes 28-18 in the period thanks to Ashley Dunstan's 15 points in the period.
Despite the Falcons fourth period rally, the Hurricanes held on for a 74-65 victory.
STAT OF THE GAME
