HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons and the Badgers met for the final time in their two-game series and Montevallo came away with a 12-5 victory and a series sweep of Spring Hill College.

Spring Hill got on the board first in the bottom of the opening frame on a solo homerun to take a 1-0 lead.

Montevallo answered back in the top of the third inning by plating three runs to take a 3-1 lead.  The Falcons' first run was walked in with the bases loaded and then JD Roberts singled to center field to score another run before the Badgers walked in the Falcons final run of the inning.

Montevallo added another run in the fifth inning to make it a 4-1 ballgame.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Falcons scored three runs off a three-RBI Caleb Ledbetter homerun that increased the Falcons lead to 7-1.

The Badgers cut the Montevallo lead to two runs when they scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

However, the Falcons scored four runs of their own in the top of the seventh inning.  The first two runs came off a Daniel Pardo homerun into right field.  Sebastian Samuels also homered in the inning and a hit by pitch brought the final run of the inning across as Montevallo took an 11-5 lead.

Montevallo added their final run of the game in the top of the ninth on a wild pitch.

Tanner Koch started on the mound for the Falcons and pitched two innings and allowed just one run on a single hit.  Koch also struck out two batters in today's outing.

Jesse Ellefson (1-1) entered the game in relief and was credited with the win after he tossed 3 2/3 innings.  Ellefson allowed four runs on three hits and struck out four batters.

Nathan Mitchell threw 1 1/3 innings and allowed just one hit.

Jamison Roney closed out the game on the mound for the Falcons, throwing the final two innings.  Roney struck out four batters and allowed one hit.
