HOW IT HAPPENED

Montevallo dropped a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against Georgia College following a 8-5 setback in the opener and a 11-3 loss in five innings in the nightcap.

Georgia College jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the opener with the Falcons' lone run in the first two innings coming on a RBI single by junior Kelsey Vining in the bottom of the first inning.

The Falcons plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning to trim the deficit to 7-3 following a RBI bases-loaded walk issued to sophomore Lady Sarah Federico and a RBI single up the middle by senior Hannah McCreless.

The Bobcats added another run in the top of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 8-3.

Vining stole home in the bottom of the fourth inning to trim the deficit to 8-4 and then drove in junior Celestia Davila with a RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the Bobcats' lead to three runs, but the Falcons couldn't get any closer in the opener.

Georgia College opened up a 5-0 lead with five runs in the first three innings in the nightcap.

Montevallo trimmed the Bobcats' lead to 5-3 with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Vining drove in two runs with a triple to right field before scoring on a RBI groundout by junior Dylan Bailey.

The Bobcats scored six unanswered runs in the next two innings, including a three-run homer by Kayla Price in the top of the fourth inning, to run away with the victory.

Price earned the win in the circle for Georgia College in both games after starting each game of the doubleheader.

Senior Jocelyn Rivera took the loss in a complete game in the opener and sophomore Abbey Pratt was tagged with the loss in a five-inning complete game in the nightcap.
