MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's soccer team fell in a close match to in-state conference opponent North Alabama 1-0.
The hotly contested match was the first between the two teams since the 2011 season.
The Falcons gave a spirited effort against a North Alabama team that has been receiving votes in the latest USCA Coaches Poll.
The game was decided late on a set piece opportunity. A foul on the Montevallo side led to a free kick in the 83
rd minute. The free kick from Shelby Wall was nodded on by Haley Yarber into the path of Kylie Huey for the deciding goal.

Michaila Franklin and Vic Whitehouse had two shots each for the Falcons but were unable to unlock the North Alabama backline.
Montevallo won eight corners compared to the Lions' five in today's match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
83' | An even contest was decided on a late set piece opportunity. A delivery from the right side of the field from Shelby Wall was headed down by Haley Yarber into the path of Kylie Huey. The forward converted the chance for the game winning goal and her fourth of the season.
GAME NOTES
- North Alabama outshot Montevallo 13 to eight, but the Falcons had an eight to five edge in corner kicks.
- Three Falcons had multiple shots on goal, with Michaila Franklin going closest with two efforts in the first period.
