PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of Montevallo volleyball team dropped a Gulf South Conference match Sept. 19 on the road at the University of West Florida, 3-0.
The Falcons (4-5 overall, 0-2 in Gulf South Conference) battled back in the second set after falling 25-13 in the opening frame, but the Argonauts (9-4 overall, 1-0 in Gulf South Conference) were able to hold off Montevallo and secure the three-set victory for their sixth win in a row.
Freshmen Amanda Nugent and Evelina Teran paced the Falcons with seven kills each. Senior Kristy Bohan added a team-high three blocks and fellow senior Grace Harris contributed a team-high 11 digs.
The Falcons will be back in action Friday, Sept. 22 with another Gulf South Conference match on the road at in-state rival Auburn-Montgomery. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

GAME NOTES
- A freshman led the Falcons' attack for the fourth time this season as a pair of newcomers, Amanda Nugent and Evelina Teran, paced Montevallo with seven kills each.
- Senior Grace Harris registered double figures in digs for the third time this season after posting a team-high 11 digs.
- Freshman Liz Tisch and sophomore Harley Masoner split time at setter for the sixth time in nine matches and finished with 12 assists and 11 assists, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Florida used a 6-0 run midway through the opening set to take a commanding lead on its way to a 25-13 win in the frame.
- Montevallo overcame an early deficit and fought hard throughout the second set, using a 4-0 run capped with a kill by freshman Amanda Nugent to temporarily take a 10-7 lead, before the Argonauts closed the frame with a 5-1 run to clinch a 25-21 victory.
- The Argonauts used a 8-2 run midway through the frame to turn a tightly-contested third set into a 25-18 win as West Florida closed out the three-set victory.
