MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of Montevallo volleyball team picked up its first Gulf South Conference victory with a 3-0 win on the road Sept. 22 at in-state rival Auburn-Montgomery in the first ever match at the AUM Athletics Complex.
The Falcons (5-5 overall, 1-2 in Gulf South Conference) swept the host Warhawks (6-6 overall, 0-2 in Gulf South Conference) comfortably, winning 25-16 in the opening set before claiming a pair of 25-15 victories in each of the final two sets.
Freshmen
Amanda Nugent led the Falcons again with 10 kills in the victory.
Kristy Bohan recorded eight kills to go along with five blocks and four service aces.
The Falcons will be back in action Tuesday, Sept. 26 with a Gulf South Conference match against in-state rival UAH at Trustmark Arena. The Falcons will be holding their annual Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night before the match. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

GAME NOTES
- Freshman Amanda Nugent led the team offensively for a second consecutive match after recording a team-high 10Â kills.
- Senior Kristy Bohan, who posted a match-high four service aces and five blocks, and junior Brie Blume finished with eight kills and seven kills, respectively.
- Senior Grace Harris finished with a team-high 12 digs, marking the fourth time this season the defensive specialist has reached the double-digit mark in digs.
- Freshman Liz Tisch and sophomore Harley Masoner again split time as the Falcons' setter and recorded 16 assists and 15 assists, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montevallo and Auburn-Montgomery played a close first set, until the Falcons rattled off four straight points to surge to a 14-10 lead. After a timeout, the Warhawks pulled within two points but the Falcons ended the opening frame on a 8-1 run capped off by a Bohan block to clinch the 25-16 win.
- The Falcons took control of the second set with a string of nine consecutive points to take a dominating 16-6 lead before junior Shannon Dudley capped off the set with the final kill in the 25-15 victory.
- Six different players recorded kills in the final set, including a final kill by freshman Evelina Teran, which closed out the Falcons' 25-15 win in the frame and clinched the first Gulf South Conference victory for Montevallo.
