MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo volleyball team registered its second consecutive sweep in Gulf South Conference play with a 3-0 victory over visiting Union University in a conference match Sept. 30 at Trustmark Arena.
The Falcons improved to 7-6 overall and 3-3 in Gulf South Conference play following the 25-22, 27-25, 25-22 win over the Bulldogs, who fell to 11-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
Freshman Amanda Nugent led Montevallo with 11 kills while hitting .346 in the three-set victory. Nugent also contributed seven digs.
Senior Kristy Bohan contributed nine kills and four blocks. Freshman Liz Tisch started at setter for the Falcons and finished with a team-high 22 assists, while sophomore Harley Masoner chipped in 18 assists. Senior Grace Harris led the Falcons with 15 digs in the match.
Montevallo will return to action Friday, Oct. 6 on the road at the University of West Alabama in Gulf South Conference play. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

- The Falcons jumped out to a 18-10 lead in the opening set following a pair of kills by freshman Amanda Nugent midway through the frame before holding off Union for a 25-22 win in the set.
- Montevallo and Union traded momentum throughout a tightly-contested second set before a pair of kills by senior Kristy Bohan helped the Falcons clinch a 27-25 win in the frame.
- The Falcons overcame a two-point deficit late in the third and final set, outscoring the Bulldogs 7-2 down the stretch to close out the match with a 25-22 win in the frame.
