MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's basketball team was defeated at home 87-47 by Lee University in Gulf South Conference play.
The Falcons are now 2-12 on the season and 0-6 in conference play.
Montevallo was outscored in the opening half 32-23 by the Flames. The Falcons defense held the Flames to 18 points in the first period and 14 points in the second period.
In the opening period, the Falcons led twice and led by as much as four points with 7:22 left to play in the period but the Flames' defense was too much for the Falcons. Lee led by as many as 10 points late in the opening period.
The second period was a more tightly contested period of play. The Falcons held the Flames to just 14 points while netting 13 of their own.
After the break, the Flames offense kicked into high gear as Lee pulled away from the Falcons. Lee outscored Montevallo 26-14 in the third period and 29-10 in the final period of play to earn the victory.
Jomekia Morine and D'Miyah Foster were the Falcons' leading scorers against the Flames as each player scored 11 points.
Cheyenne Cunningham was the leading rebounder for the Falcons and grabbed seven boards in the game.
