Falcons Soar Past Wolves 3-0 in Conference Play

GAME NOTES
  • Evelina Teran had a team-leading 11 kills in the win for the Falcons.  Brioni Dixon and Amanda Nugent both added nine kills in the match.
  • Hannah Fernandez continued to dominate at the net and denied the Wolves four times and also contributed four service aces in the match.
  • Harley Masoner led the Falcons in assists in the match with 23.
  • Nugent contributed a team-high 15 digs in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1
  • Montevallo and West Georgia went back and forth for most of the set.  Both teams used multiple point runs to keep it a close contest.  Late in the set, the Wolves used a five-point run to take a 19-16 lead over the Falcons.  Montevallo responded with a four-point run of their own to retake the lead at 20-19.  With the game tied at 21-21, Montevallo scored three straight points to go ahead 24-21.  However, the Wolves responded with a run of their own to tie the set back up at 24-24.  The Falcons scored the final two points to win the set 26-24.
 Set 2
  • The second set was just as tightly contested as the first as both teams exchanged points for most of the set.  Montevallo found themselves down 24-22 late in the set and responded with two straight points to tie the game at 24-24.  West Georgia retook the advantage off an attacking error by the Falcons.  Montevallo responded by scoring the next three points to seal the 27-25 victory.
Set 3
  • Both teams again began the set by exchanging points but this time the Falcons were able to inch ahead of the Wolves.  Up 19-15, the Falcons put the game away with a three-point run to go ahead 22-15.  West Georgia tried to make a run to get back in the game but the Falcons did not break and put the match away with back-to-back kills.
