GAME NOTES
  • Montevallo struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the match and had a team hitting percentage of -.022.  Four players for the Falcons also registered a negative hitting percentage in the match.
  • The leading hitter for the Falcons was freshman Savannah Roys who took a total of six attacks and connected for two kills for a hitting percentage of .333 percent.
  • Brioni Dixon and Amanda Nugent each had a team-high four kills in the match for the Falcons. 
  • Michaela Henderson led the team with a total of 14 digs in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1
  • West Alabama put together a 6-0 run early in the set to break a tie and took a 9-3 lead over the Falcons.  The Tigers closed out the set on a 9-1 run to claim the opening set 25-10.
 Set 2
  • After starting the game with three straight points, the Falcons got on the board with two points to make it 3-2 in the set.  West Alabama responded with a 5-0 run to take an 8-2 lead.  The team exchanged points for the rest of the set as the Tigers took the second set 25-17.
Set 3
  • The Tigers used multiple runs in the final set to win in dominating fashion.  West Alabama scored five straight points to begin the set and took a 5-1 lead. A four-point run later in the set gave the Tigers a 9-2 lead over the Falcons. West Alabama took the set 25-8 after closing out the set on a 6-1 run.
UP NEXT
The Falcons head to Mississippi College to take on the Choctaws in GSC action on Saturday, October 6th.  The first serve is set for 2:00 pm.
