Falcons Top Choctaws 3-1 in Conference Play

GAME NOTES
  • Brioni Dixon and Brie Blume both recorded double-digit kills in the match for the Falcons with 10 a piece.
  • Evelina Teran registered a total of seven kills in the match.
  • Harley Masoner had three service aces for the Falcons in today's game.
  • Dixon and Teran led the Falcons at the net and both denied the Choctaws five times.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1
  • The Falcons and the Choctaws kept it tight in the opening set of play.  Neither team was able to gain a large advantage in the set.  The largest lead by either team was three points but ultimately the Choctaws held on to win the set 30-28.
 Set 2
  • Montevallo used a five-point run early in the set to take a 6-3 lead over Mississippi College.  Halfway through the set, the Choctaws used a six-point run of their own to take a 13-10 lead over the Falcons.  Later with the game tied at 18-18, Montevallo took the lead with a five-point run to go ahead 23-18.  The Falcons closed out the set to win 25-21.
Set 3
  • Montevallo scored three straight points to start the set and never trailed.  Even though Mississippi College was able to tie the game at 8-8, the Falcons responded by retaking the lead.  Despite a late set rally by the Choctaws, the Falcons were able to hold on for a 25-19 win.
Set 4
  • The Falcons opened the set on a 6-1 run to take the lead to start the fourth set.  Mississippi College fought back into the set and tied the set at 14-14.  Trailing 23-22 near the end of the set, the Falcons scored three straight to close out the set 25-23 and win the match.
UP NEXT
Montevallo will now welcome Valdosta State to Trustmark Arena on Friday, October 12 in a match that is scheduled to begin at 6 pm.
