GAME NOTES
· Kourtnie Smith led the way on both sides of the ball tonight for the Falcons. Smith had 17 points and six rebounds in the game to lead the Falcons in both categories. Smith was 8-of-11 from the field and grabbed three offensive and three defensive rebounds.
· Nautika Philpot went 5-of-14 from the field and 1-of-6 from three-point range and ended the night with 13 points. She also grabbed four defensive rebounds for the Falcons.
· Paige Ward was the final Falcon to finish the game with double figures in scoring. Ward had 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting. She also added two rebounds and an assist to her stat line tonight.
· Montevallo controlled the offensive glass and scored 15 second-chance points in the game.
· The Falcons have shown the ability to work the ball inside this season and it is paying off. Montevallo dominated the paint on offense and scored 50 points in the low post.

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The University of Montevallo women's basketball program was defeated for the first time this season by the Nova Southeastern Sharks 87-83 in a road matchup in their first of two games in the sunshine state.
The Falcons and the Sharks competed hard in the first matchup all-time between the two teams. In the first period, the Falcons played Nova Southeastern close as both teams went back and forth with the Sharks holding a 26-22 lead at the period break.
Montevallo's offensive attack slowed down a bit in the second period and they were outscored 23-13 in the period. Nova Southeastern climbed to a 17-point lead over in the period with 4:33 left to play in the half. Montevallo only closed the deficit by three points and entered halftime trailing the Sharks by 14 points, 49-35.
The Falcons came out in the second half and outscored the Sharks 25-17 in the third period to pull within six points of the lead at 66-60. Montevallo was unable to string together a run longer than six points, but it didn't matter as the Falcons began to slowly chip away at the lead.
The Falcons and the Sharks played it near even in the fourth period with the Falcons holding a 23-21 advantage. Montevallo got to within a point of the lead but Nova Southeastern kept it just out of reach as the Sharks sealed the 87-83 victory down the stretch.
Montevallo's next game will be against Saint Leo on Saturday, November 17th with tip-off set for 11:00 am.
