GAME NOTES
- Kourtnie Smith scored her first double-double of the season with a 12 point and 11 rebound performance. Smith shot 4-of-8 from the field and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Smith was also dominant on the defensive board and grabbed nine rebounds for the Falcons.
- Nautika Philpot led the Falcons in scoring with 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting and went 2-of-4 from behind the three-point line. Philpot was the second Falcon in the game to shoot 100 percent from the free throw line as she went 4-of-4.
- Shyan Flack was the third Falcon to eclipse the double-digit mark in points scored as she netted 10 points in the game. Flack went 4-of-11 from the field and shot 2-of-3 from three-point range. Flack also dished out three assists and also led the team with four steals in the game.
- Cheyenne Cunningham was the team leader in assists for the Falcons and dished out four assists.
- Both teams struggled with ball security in the game, but Washburn took advantage of the Falcon's miscues and outscored Montevallo 24-12 in second-chance points.
- Washburn held a 40-28 advantage in points in the paint.
- Montevallo's bench outscored Washburn 24-20 in tonight's game.

RECAP
TOPEKA, Kan. – The University of Montevallo women's basketball team was defeated 67-59 by the Washburn Ichabods in their opening game at the 2018 Parrish Hotel Thanksgiving Classic.
Both teams got off to a slow start but after one period of play, the Ichabods outscored Montevallo the rest of the way. Â The Falcons and the Ichabods went back and forth through most of the period but Montevallo held 13-10 advantage at the end of the opening period.
The Falcons were outscored in the second period but led by as many as five points late in the half. Washburn hit back-to-back three-pointers to take a 31-30 lead into the break.
Washburn led the entire second half of play despite the Falcons best efforts to get back in the game. The Ichabods led by as much as 10 points in the period but Montevallo continued to execute on the offensive side of the ball and trailed Washburn 53-47 at the end of the period.
The final period of play saw the Falcons struggle to retake the lead. Montevallo cut the lead to three points midway through the period but the Ichabods held on to win 67-59.
Montevallo will take on Newman at 1:00 pm CT on Saturday, November 23
rd in their final matchup of the 2018 Parrish Hotel Thanksgiving Classic.
