RECAP
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's basketball team started the 2018-19 season with an 87-76 victory over Spring Hill College on Friday night.
After a close first period that saw the Falcons trailing 24-19 at the break, Montevallo turned it on offensively and outscored the Badgers to earn their first victory of the season.
Nautika Philpot led the Falcons with 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting and also went 4-of-8 from the three-point line.
Kourtnie Smith was the teams leading rebounder in this one and totaled 12 boards with six of them coming on the offensive glass. Smith was also one of three players to have three steals in tonight's game.
Montevallo returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on Tuskegee in the final day of the GSC/SIAC Crossover Challenge. The game against the Golden Bears is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
