  • Montevallo overcame a five-point deficit at halftime and outscored Shorter 39-23 in the second half to even its Gulf South Conference record at 2-2.
  • The Falcons again outrebounded their opponent for the 10th time in 13 games after holding a 35-30 edge on the boards in the contest against the Hawks.
  • Montevallo also finished with a season-high 13 steals, which led to an impressive 25-8 margin in points off turnovers.
  • Senior De'Marco Owens knocked down a free throw with 12:15 remaining in the first half to give the Falcons a 10-9 lead before Shorter went on a 21-12 run to take its largest lead in the game at 30-22 following a 3-pointer by Joe Russell with 3:27 remaining in the opening half.
  •  Montevallo took the lead for good following a 3-pointer by senior Tyler Updike, which put the Falcons up 48-46 with 11:18 remaining in the game.

  • Sophomore Micah Fuller scored a team-high 18 points in the victory.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's basketball defeated visiting Shorter University 69-58 in a Gulf South Conference contest Dec. 17 at Trustmark Arena.
Montevallo (5-8) overcame a five-point deficit at halftime and outscored Shorter 39-23 in the second half to even its Gulf South Conference record at 2-2.
