MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
Senior Darbi Duke and sophomore Mariel Bertossi, who homered for the second time this season, were the only Falcons to record multiple hits in the victory.
Four other Falcons recorded one hit in the game, including senior Kelsey Vining, who hit her second home run of the season, junior Lady Sarah Federico, sophomore Haley Barnette and freshman Carlee Mullinax.
Montevallo finished with five stolen bases in the game, led by Duke, who had three stolen bases.
The Falcons' pitching staff featured four different pitchers, totaling seven strikeouts and allowing four hits.
Freshman Mychael McMillan pitched two scoreless innings in relief for the Falcons, totaling two strikeouts, as she picked up her fourth win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning when sophomore Mariel Bertossi homered, scoring senior Darbi Duke to give Montevallo a 2-0 lead.
Montevallo took its lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning after a solo home run from senior Kelsey Vining.
The Falcons scored two more runs in the bottom of the third inning to lead 5-0 after Duke scored on a RBI double to left field by Bertossi, who later scored on a RBI single down the left field line by junior Lady Sarah Federico.
In the top of the seventh inning, Christian Brothers plated their only run of the game on a single to left field.
