Falcons Down Badgers 12-1 in Midweek Contest

MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
  • Collin Dupree was 4-of-6 in the game and drove in two RBI while also scoring twice for the Falcons.
  • Caleb Ledbetter had a home run in the game that helped him get to 3-of-4 from the plate.  Ledbetter scored three times and also had two RBI.
  • Montevallo had three home runs in the game thanks to the bats of Jason Cryar, Sebastian Samuels, and Ledbetter.
  • Justin Whitley (2-2) got the start and the win for the Falcons.  Whitley threw five innings and struck out eight batters in the outing.
 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Montevallo scored first in the game with a run in the bottom of the third inning.  Mark Castellucci drove in a run on a bases-loaded situation when he singled through the left side to score Caleb Ledbetter.
  • In the top of the fourth inning, the Badgers tied the game at 1-1 with a single up the middle to score an unearned run.
  • Montevallo took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth frame on a two-RBI home run score Collin Dupree.  Later in the inning, Sebastian Samuels hit a solo home run to give the Falcons a 4-1 lead.
  • Montevallo broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth inning when they scored seven runs in the frame to take an 11-1 lead.
  • Jason Cryar gave the Falcons a 12-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run into center field.
UP NEXT
Montevallo will play North Alabama in a three-game series that is set to begin on Saturday, March 17th.  First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
