GAME 1 INFORMATION

MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior Darbi Duke paced the Falcons' offensively as she finished 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and stole two bases.
  • Senior Kelsey Vining went 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run while stealing one base.
  • Sophomore Holly LaForce finished 1-for-2 at the plate and scored two runs while stealing two bases.
  • Junior Lady Sarah Federico and sophomore Haley Barnette also finished with one hit each.
  • Sophomore Abbey Pratt pitched two scoreless frames in relief while allowing one hit and one walk.
  • Freshman Mychael McMillan pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings with one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • North Alabama scored two runs in the top of the first inning and added one more run in the top of the second inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
  • Sophomore Holly LaForce, who reached on a walk, scored on a RBI single up the middle by senior Kelsey Vining to trim the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
  • Montevallo trimmed the deficit to 3-2 when LaForce, who reached on an infield single, scored on a throwing error by the Lions in the bottom of the fifth inning.
  • The Lions broke open the tight game with six runs in the top of the sixth inning and four runs in the top of the seventh inning.

MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior Kelsey Vining, senior Celstia Davila and sophomore Brianna Stella led the Falcons with two hits each.
  • Five other Falcons also recorded a hit, including senior Darbi Duke, sophomore Haley Barnette, freshman Carlee Mullinax, senior Dylan Bailey and freshman Lauryn Garcia.
  • Mullinax drove in a team-high three runs, while Vining and Barnette each scored a team-best two runs.
  • Junior Amanda Ingram pitched two scoreless innings with one strikeout in relief.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when senior Kelsey Vining, who singled up the middle, scored on a RBI single up the middle by sophomore Brianna Stella and sophomore Haley Barnette, who reached on a walk, scored on a RBI single to left field by senior Celestia Davila.
  • The Lions plated a run in the top of the second inning and added three more in the top of the third inning to take a 4-2 lead.
  • Montevallo trimmed the deficit to 4-3 when senior Darbi Duke singled to left-center field before scoring on a RBI double to center field by Barnette in the bottom of the fifth inning.
  • North Alabama plated two runs in the top of the sixth inning and two runs in the top of the seventh inning to stretch its lead to 8-3.
  • Vining and Barnette, who reached on a single and a walk, respectively in the bottom of the seventh inning, scored on a three-run homer to right-center field by freshman Carlee Mullinax to trim the deficit to 8-6 but the Falcons couldn't plate any additional runs in the frame.

The Falcons will close out the three-game series against North Alabama in the final game of the series Sunday, March 18. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m.
