MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS

·        Sophomores Haley Barnette and Brianna Stella, along with freshman Lauryn Garcia, recorded the lone hits for the Falcons in the final game of the series.

·        Senior Darbi Duke and Barnette scored one run each for the Falcons.

·        Senior Kelsey Vining and Duke finished with one stolen base each.

·        Sophomore Abbey Pratt allowed just one earned run on three hits in four innings in the circle.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

·        The Lions plated two runs in the top of the third inning to take an early 2-0 lead.

·        Montevallo trimmed the deficit to 2-1 when senior Darbi Duke reached on a walk and scored on a fielding error by North Alabama in the bottom of the third inning.

·        The Falcons tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when sophomore Haley Barnette, who led off the frame with an infield single, scored on a walk to senior Celestia Davila with the bases loaded.

·        North Alabama scored the go-ahead run in the top of the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead.

·        The Lions added two more runs in the top of the sixth inning to push their lead to 5-2 before scoring their final two runs in the top of the seventh inning.

The Falcons will travel to Tuskegee University to face the Golden Tigers in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday, March 21. First pitch in the opening game is set for 1 p.m.
