Falcons Topple Wolves 6-1 in Series Opener

MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
  • Caleb Ledbetter led the Falcons and went 5-of-5 from the plate and also drove in two RBI.
  • Ryan Brooks was 2-for-3 on the game with a run and an RBI.
  • Cas Silber (5-3) got the start and the win for the Falcons and went 7 1/3 innings and allowed just five hits.  Silber also struck out four batters in today's outing.
  • Kale Lattore entered the game in the eighth inning and pitched 1 2/3 innings on his way to his fifth save of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • West Georgia scored the game's first run with a double that was hit down the left field line in the bottom of the second inning.  A fielding error on the Falcons allowed the runner from third base to reach home and gave the Wolves a 1-0 lead.
  • Montevallo got on the board with a run in the top of the sixth inning.  Caleb Ledbetter scored from third on a wild pitch to make it a 1-1 ball game.
  • Ryan Brooks added another run in the same frame when he doubled into centerfield and brought Chad Wagner around to give Montevallo a 2-1 lead.
  • The Falcons broke the game open in the bottom of the ninth inning to take a 6-1 lead.  After working the bases loaded, Montevallo earned two more walks to plate two runs.  Caleb Ledbetter doubled into centerfield with the bases loaded that scored two runs.   
UP NEXT
Montevallo and West Georgia will wrap up the series tomorrow, Saturday, March 24th with a doubleheader.  The first pitch in game one of the doubleheader will begin at 12:00 p.m.
