MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
- Four players for the Falcons had multiple hits in the game, including Jason Cryar who drove in three runs.
- Caleb Ledbetter and John Michael Reed both went 2-of-5 from the plate and Ledbetter also scored twice and Reed scored once.
- Montevallo used five different pitchers in the game to hold off the Chargers. Chrit Rudkin (3-1) entered the game in the eighth inning and threw 1 2/3 innings of work to earn his third win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Chargers took an early 4-0 lead over the Falcons after scoring a pair of runs off a two-RBI home run in the bottom of the opening frame and then plated two more runs in the third inning to jump ahead of the Falcons.
- Montevallo came back and pulled the game to within one run of the lead, 4-3, in the fourth inning. Jason Cryar scored Caleb Ledbetter on a double down the left field line. Later in the inning, Cryar was plated along with Samuel Stohr when Blake Devine connected for a double down the left field line.
- Cryar gave the Falcons the lead in the fifth inning on his second double of the game and scored Samuels and Ledbetter to lead the Chargers for the first time in the game, 5-4.
- Ledbetter plated a pair of runs in the sixth inning to give the Falcons a 7-4 lead late in the game.
- Alabama-Huntsville knotted the game up at 7-7 when they scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
- John Michael Reed drove in the game-winning run in the top of the final frame to give Montevallo the 8-7 lead. Reed tripled into centerfield to bring home Cryar to seal up the victory.
