MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS

Senior Kelsey Vining finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and drove in two runs.

Sophomore Haley Barnette went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Senior Darbi Duke finished 1-for-4 at the plate and scored one run while also recording a stolen base.

Sophomore Mariel Bertossi went 1-for-2 at the plate and scored one run while also recording a stolen base.

Senior Dylan Bailey and sophomore Holly LaForce also registered one hit each.

Senior Celestia Davila scored one run.

Junior Alexis Bonanno pitched two scoreless innings in relief with one strikeout.

Junior Jessica Boyd also pitched a scoreless inning in relief with one strikeout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when senior Darbi Duke reached on a single and stole second base before scoring on a RBI double to left-center field by senior Kelsey Vining.

Shorter plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead.

Montevallo scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning, taking a 3-2 lead when sophomore Mariel Bertossi was hit by a pitch and stole second base before scoring on an error by the Hawks and senior Celestia Davila scored on a RBI ground out by Vining in the frame.

The Hawks plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead for good.

UP NEXT
 
The Falcons will travel to Americus, Georgia to face former Peach Belt Conference foe Georgia Southwestern in a doubleheader Wednesday, April 18.
