Game 1
MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
- Caleb Ledbetter was 3-of-4 from the plate and scored once in the game for the Falcons.
- Tyler Krabbe went 3-of-4 from the dish and also drove in two RBI in the game one victory.
- Chad Wagner led the team in RBI with three and was 1-of-3, including two sacrifice flies in game one.Â
- Kale Latorre (3-1) earned the win in game one and threw 2.1 innings of work to close out the game. Latorre struck out four batters and allowed just one hit in his outing.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Argos scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over the Falcons.
- Montevallo tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the opening frame off a fielder's choice by Chad Wagner. Collin Dupree crossed the plate for the Falcons to bring the game even.
- In the bottom of the third inning, the Falcons took a 4-3 lead off a two-RBI double from Tyler Krabbe. Earlier in the inning, Chad Wagner scored Collin Dupree on a sacrifice fly to make it a one-run game. Krabbe's double gave the Falcons the lead when he put one through the left side to score Jason Cryar and Caleb Ledbetter.
- In the fifth inning, the Argos retook the lead after they plated two runs to go up 5-4.
- Jason Cryar led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo home run into left field to tie the game at 5-5.
- West Florida took a 7-5 lead in the top of the sixth inning after plating two runs.
- In the bottom of the seventh inning, Sebastian Samuels scored Caleb Ledbetter on a sacrifice fly into centerfield to make it a 7-6 ball game.Â
- Later in the seventh inning, Khari Anderson singled through the left side and scored Chad Wagner to tie the game at 7-7.
- Wagner plated the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly that scored Jason Cryar and put the Falcons on top 8-7.
Game 2
MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
- Four different players drove in three runs for the Falcons. Cryar, Ledbetter, Wagner, and Krabbe each had three RBI in the game.
- Chad Wagner went 3-of-3 from the dish and also scored once for the Falcons.Â
- Caleb Ledbetter was 2-of-2 and also drew two walks and scored twice in the game.
- Sebastian Samuels drove in an RBI and went 1-of-4 from the plate.
- Alex Pondick (6-1) got the start and the win after throwing 5.1 innings of work and struck out four batters.
- Jesse Ellefson and Samuel Deardorff pitched in relief for the Falcons.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Argos scored their first run in the top of the first inning on an error by the third baseman to take a 1-0 lead.
- Jason Cryar drew a walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the second inning that tied the game at 1-1. Montevallo took the lead later in the inning with a single from Chad Wagner that drove in two more runs to put Montevallo on top 4-1.
- The Argos cut the Falcons lead to one run in the top of the third inning when they plated a pair of runs to make the game 4-3.
- Caleb Ledbetter gave the Falcons a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when he tripled into centerfield and drove in Collin Dupree. On the next at-bat, Chad Wagner drove in Ledbetter on a single into shallow right field. Montevallo led 6-3 at the end of the inning.
- West Florida scored another run in the top of the fifth inning to make it a 6-4 game in favor of the Falcons.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Falcons took a commanding 13-4 lead and put the game out of reach. The big play of the inning came on a bases-clearing double from Tyler Krabbe that scored Wagner, Ledbetter, and Cryar.
- The Argos scored one more run in the top of the seventh and fell to the Falcons 13-5.
