Falcons Swept by Augusta On Final Day Of Jaguar Rumble

Score: Montevallo 0, Augusta 3 (20-25, 24-26, 25-19)

Records: Montevallo (2-1 overall) | Augusta (3-0 overall)

GAME NOTES

·         Evelina Teran was the kill leader in the match for the Falcons with nine.  Brie Blume and Brioni Dixon also played a big offensive role for Montevallo with Blume registering seven kills and Dixon recording six.

·         Savannah Roys had three kills in the match against Augusta.

·         Carly Knight and Teran both registered two blocks in the match.

·         Savannah Roys led the Falcons with 19 assists and split time with Harley Masoner who recorded 11.

 HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1

·         The opening set of play was tightly contested at the beginning with neither team really gaining an advantage until Augusta put together 5-0 run to take an 8-5 lead over the Falcons.

·         The Falcons found themselves down by as many as seven points (20-13) late in the match and were able to pull the game back to within three points (20-17) with a 4-point run of their own.

·         However, Montevallo was unable to overcome the late deficit as the Jaguars claimed the first set 25-20.

Set 2

·         The second set was even more tightly contested than the first as neither team was able to gain more than a three-point lead over their opponent.

·         Late in the set, the Falcons found themselves playing for set point with a 24-21 lead.  The Jaguars closed out the game on a 5-0 run to win the set 26-24.

Set 3

·         Montevallo got behind early in the set as the Jaguars looked to be in total control and led by14-6.

·         Montevallo went on a 6-0 run to pull the set to 14-12.

·         Montevallo was unable to overcome the Augusta offense that seemed to have found its rhythm as the Jaguars completed the sweep with a 25-19 victory.
