MONTEVALLO, Ala.—The University of Montevallo volleyball team remained the only undefeated team in the Gulf South Conference after taking down Lee University in three straight sets.
Montevallo improved to 14-1 on the season and extended their win streak to 12 straight with today's victory. The Falcons hot start is the best in the Montevallo NCAA Division II era.
Despite it not showing on the stat sheet,
Hannah Fernandez made her presence felt on the floor and kept the Flames attention most of the night. Fernandez shined on defense and denied Lee six times at the net.
Evelina Teran led the team with 13 kills in today's match and also had six blocks to help extinguish the Flames offensive attack.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- Montevallo and the Flames exchanged points early on in the set but the Falcons took an 8-4 lead thanks to a pair of service aces from Hannah Fernandez. Lee made it interesting and pulled to within a point of the lead before Montevallo went on a 10-point run to put the game out of reach. Montevallo and Lee exchanged points to close out the set as the Falcons took the opening set 25-15.
Set 2
- The Falcons and the Flames exchanged runs early in the set until Montevallo was able to take a 9-5 lead after a three-point run. Lee answered with a four-point run of their own to tie the game at 9-9. The Falcons responded with a 5-1 run and took a four-point lead, 15-11. Montevallo closed out the set with an 8-3 run to win 25-17.
Set 3
- Montevallo opened the set on a 7-3 run to take a four-point lead over the Flames. The Falcons had a response for every rally from the Flames. Late in the set, Lee had the Montevallo lead cut to two points at 21-19 but Montevallo closed out the set on a 5-2 run to claim the final set 25-21.

Montevallo will now travel to West Florida to take on the nationally ranked Argonauts. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
