HOW IT HAPPENED
 
31' | Lee took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half following the first goal in the match by Julia Kaset.

35' | The Falcons netted the equalizer less than five minutes later when Allye Darnell scored her first of two goals in the contest.

83' | The Flames scored a go-ahead goal late in the contest when Mia Hollingsworth found the back of the net.

86' | Darnell again came through in the clutch for the Falcons, tying the match 2-2 less than three minutes later.

92' | Freshman Romee Contreras scored the Golden Goal early in overtime to lift the Falcons to victory on the road in a key Gulf South Conference match.


GAME NOTES

  • The Falcons secured an important two points in conference standings with the victory in the contest against the nationally-ranked Flames, who were previously unbeaten in Gulf South Conference play and slotted in the top half of team standings.
  • Lee, ranked No. 19 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Association NCAA Division II poll, outshot Montevallo 17-11 in shots attempted in the contest and held a 11-6 advantage in shots on goal.
  • The Flames also finished with a 7-3 edge in corner kick opportunities in the match.
  • Sophomore Allye Darnell scored her first two goals of the season and the seventh and eighth of her collegiate career in the match.
  • Freshman Romee Contreras has now scored a goal in back-to-back matches for the Falcons.
  • Freshman Annie Mason registered a career-high eight saves in the contest against the Flames.
