MONTEVALLO, Ala.  – Montevallo was unable to hold off the defending Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Champion Miles College on Saturday, as the Falcons fell, 70-60, in Trustmark Arena.

Montevallo carried a 36-30 lead into halftime after shooting 57.7 percent in the opening 20 minutes, but was held to 5-of-23 from the floor in the second half.

Jonas Parker led Montevallo with 15 points, including 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Wade Lowman followed with 15 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Ivan Smith added 14 points.

Miles used a 17-2 run midway through the first half to take a 15-point lead and maintained its double-digit lead. The Golden Bears had five players score in double digits and combine for all but one of their 70 points.


GAME NOTES
  • Montevallo forced 21 turnovers and had 11 steals, led by Ivan Smith's four.
  • There were nine lead changes and five ties in the game. 
  • UM is now 2-2 against NCAA Division II South Region opponents and 1-1 against SIAC foes this season. 
  • The Falcons' three-game run against SIAC teams continues Tuesday, Nov. 19 when Tuskegee University.
