MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The all-time series between the University of Montevallo women's basketball team and Delta State University hes been lopsided in favor of the Lady Statesmen for as long as the two teams have been playing. Delta State had won a dozen straight dating back to 1998, and the Lady Statesmen had won 16 of the 17 meetings all-time in the series.
None of that mattered on Saturday afternoon.
Montevallo (4-1, 1-0 GSC) held a sizable statistical advantage from beyond the arc, holding an 18-point advantage from long range as the Falcons tripped up Delta State (4-1, 0-1 GSC) in the Gulf South Conference opener for both teams, 79-70.
