How it Happened
1st Quarter
- Montevallo struck first and built a modest lead early, but Clark Atlanta cut the margin to 10-8 on a bucket from Lakashia Hill with 3:51 to play.
- Over the final moments of the period, Montevallo put together a 7-1 run made shots from Smith and Lee, and a traditional 3-point play from Jones to take a 17-9 lead after 10 minutes.
2nd Quarter
- Jones quickly scored again in the second quarter to give Montevallo a 19-9 lead, but Clark Atlanta whittled the margin down to six at the 6:14 mark.
- The Falcons answered with an 8-0 run to push their lead to 27-13 in just 1:16 of game time, and the lead swelled to 38-22 at the halftime break.
3rd Quarter
- A 10-2 run by Montevallo to open the third frame stretched the Falcons' lead to 24 points at 48-24 with just 1:55 elapsed in the period.
- The margin reached as many as 28 points in the stanza, and after three quarters of play, Montevallo led comfortably, 61-40.
4th Quarter
- Clark Atlanta tried to mount a charge in the final 10 minutes, cutting the deficit to as few as 14 points, but time was not on the side of the Panthers.
- Over the final 2:10, Montevallo scored 10 of the game's final 15 points to take the 83-64 win.
