MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior Jason Cryar finished 2-for-4 at the plate while blasting his fourth home run of the season, driving in and scoring the Falcons' lone run in the game.
  • Junior Sebastian Samuels went 1-for-4 at the plate with a double.
  • Junior Ryan Brooks also finished 1-for-4 at the plate with a double.
  • Senior Chrit Rudkin registered a career-high 10 strikeouts on the mound as he battled his way through a rough outing and finished two outs shy of a complete game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Delta State plated three runs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-0 lead following a two-run double by Weber Herbison and a RBI single by Josh Russell.
  • The Statesmen added a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning following a RBI single by David Herrington, who also scored on a fielder's choice later in the frame, to give Delta State a 5-0 lead.
  • Senior Jason Cryar blasted his team-leading fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning to trim the Delta State lead to 5-1.
  • Delta State plated its final three runs in the top of the ninth inning following a two-run double by Russell and a RBI infield single by Herrington.
UP NEXT

Montevallo will continue with a three-game Gulf South Conference against Delta State University with a doubleheader Saturday, Feb. 16 at Kermit A. Johnson Field. First pitch in the opening game is set for 1 p.m.
