GAME 1 INFORMATION
 
Score: Montevallo 1, Delta State 0
Records: Montevallo (10-3 overall, 1-0 in GSC) | Delta State (8-4 overall, 0-1 in GSC)

MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
  • Junior Mariel Bertossi finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one run.
  • Junior Haley Barnette finished 1-for-3 at the plate.
  • Senior Abbey Pratt picked up her third win of the season in the circle, allowing three hits and recording one strikeout in 5 1/3 innings.
  • Junior Kristina Manthei picked up her first save of the season, striking out three batters in 1 2/3 innings pitched.
 
 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons plated the lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning when senior Lady Sarah Federico was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring junior Mariel Bertossi.
  • Junior Kristina Manthei closed out the top of the seventh inning with two strikeouts to pick up her first save of the season in the 1-0 win.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
 
  • After Delta State plated two runs in the top of the first inning, the Falcons took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the first inning  when junior Haley Barnette scored on a sacrifice bunt by senior Kendra Buckley.
  • Delta State plated two runs in the top of the third inning to lead 4-2.
  • In the bottom of the fourth inning, Barnette doubled to left center and scored juniors Mariel Bertossi and Brianna Stella to give the Falcons a 5-4 lead.
  • Delta State took the lead 6-5 in the top of the seventh inning.
 
UP NEXT
 
The Falcons will host Delta State University in the final game of the Gulf South Conference series Saturday Feb.16 at 1 p.m. at Orr Park.
