MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
  • Junior Kristina Manthei earned the win in the circle after allowing just one earned run on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks in five innings.
  • Sophomore Carlee Mullinax went 2-for-2 at the plate while driving in three runs and scoring two runs.
  • Junior Brianna Stella finished 2-for-4 at the plate and scored a pair of runs.
  • Junior Mariel Bertossi went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double while driving in one run and scoring one run.
  • Senior Marisa Sosa finished 1-for-1 at the plate and drove in one run.
  • Junior Caroline Pope went 1-for-3 at the plate.
  • Freshman Georgia Hughes finished 1-for-4 at the plate.
  • Junior Haley Barnette scored one run in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning following a RBI double by junior Mariel Bertossi and a RBI single by sophomore Carlee Mullinax.
  • Mullinax scored on a bases-loaded walk issued to senior Marisa Sosa to push the Falcons' lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
  • Montevallo plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to push its lead to 6-0 following a two-run single by Mullinax, who also scored later in the frame on an error by Ohio Dominican.
  • Ohio Dominican scored its lone run in the top of the fifth inning.

MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI single by junior Mariel Bertossi.
  • Montevallo plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning on a RBI single by senior Lady Sarah Federico and a RBI single by freshman Brooke Ingram to push its lead to 3-0.
  • Bellarmine trimmed the deficit to 3-2 with two runs in the top of the fourth inning before tying the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth inning.
  • The Falcons scored their final two runs on a RBI sacrifice bunt by junior Brianna Stella and a run scored by junior Annie Adamos on an error by the Knights in the bottom of the sixth inning.

UP NEXT

The Falcons will continue playing in the Charger Chillout 2.0 on Sunday in a doubleheader starting with a match up against Southern Indiana at 9 a.m.
