MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's lacrosse team got off to a fast start with a 5-0 lead before Maryville University came from behind in a 16-13 win over the Falcons in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest Sunday, March 10.

Thomas Vaesen scored a team-high four goals and also recorded one assist while finishing with a team-best five points.

Connor Frederick added three goals, while fellow freshman
Andru Ross contributed a pair of goals.

2nd (0:14) | Fraser scored an unassisted goal as the Saints outscored the Falcons 4-2 in the second quarter and carried a 10-8 lead into the break at halftime.

Ryan Shea scored an unassisted goal in a man-up opportunity to trim the Maryville lead to 12-11 midway through the third quarter.
3rd (0:56) | Ty Wench scored a goal off an assist from Zach Steltzer in the final minute of the third quarter to give the Saints their largest lead at 15-11.
4th (10:59) | Freshman
Jackson Neufeld scored the Falcons' second consecutive goal early in the fourth quarter to trim the Saints' lead to 15-13.
4th (1:41) | The action tightened in the final 10 minutes of the game with the unassisted goal by Shafer accounting for the lone tally late in the contest.
GAME NOTES
- Montevallo edged Maryville 50-45 in shots attempted, including a 29-28 advantage in shots on goal in the contest.
- The Falcons finished with 24 turnovers in the contest compared to 20 turnovers by the Saints.
- Both teams finished 2-of-6 in man-up opportunities.
- Montevallo dominated in face offs with a 28-4 edge, led by freshman Luke Stephens won 27 face offs and finished with 15 ground balls.
- The Falcons finished with 58 ground balls compared to 31 ground balls by Maryville.
