NEWBERRY, S.C. – The University of Montevallo men's lacrosse team defeated host Newberry College 13-8 in a non-conference match on the road March 16.
Sophomore
Thomas Vaesen scored a game-high five goals to lead the Falcons, who improved to 3-6 overall this season.
Freshman
Jackson Neufeld added three goals in the win.
Sophomore
Kordell Primus, along with freshmen
Dante Cloutier,
Connor Frederick,
Chaiton Williams and
Mason Jolley, scored one goal each.
Primus also finished with a team-high two assists and compiled a team-best eight ground balls.

Kyle Little finished with 12 saves in the victory.

Mason Jolley capped a 3-0 scoring run by the Falcons with his unassisted goal midway through the third quarter to push the Montevallo lead to 8-4.
4th (14:18) | Vaesen scored an unassisted goal early in the fourth quarter to give the Falcons a 10-6 lead.
4th (2:41) | Vaesen scored an unassisted goal in the final minutes to give Montevallo a 13-7 advantage, its largest in the game.
GAME NOTES
- Newberry outshot the Falcons 42-35 in the game, but Montevallo finished with a 25-20 edge in shots on goal.
- Montevallo converted 1-of-2 extra-man opportunities, while the Wolves were 0-of-5 in man-up situations.
- The Falcons finished with a 13-11 edge in face offs in the contest.
- Montevallo finished 27-of-29 in clear attempts, its highest percentage of the season, while Newberry finished 20-of-24 in clear attempts.
