MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Mariel Bertossi recorded the lone hit for the Falcons and finished 1-for-2 at the plate with a stolen base.
- Senior Amanda Ingram pitched one scoreless inning in relief and struck out two batters while allowing only two hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Florida, ranked No. 2 nationally in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division II poll, scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and three runs in the bottom of the second inning to jump out to an early 6-0 lead.
- The Argonauts added five more runs in the bottom of the third inning while holding the Falcons scoreless through five innings to record their 10th shutout of the season.

- Senior Lady Sarah Federico finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a stolen base.
- Junior Haley Barnette went 1-for-4 at the plate with a stolen base and scored one run.
- Sophomore Brooke Ingram finished 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run.
- Sophomore Carlee Mullinax went 1-for-3 at the plate.
- Junior Brianna Stella scored one run and finished with one stolen base.
- Junior Mariel Bertossi drove in one run.
- Senior Marisa Sosa recorded one stolen base.
- Senior Abbey Pratt pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts while allowing just two hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montevallo took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when junior Brianna Stella reached on an error by the Argonauts and stole second base before advancing to third base on a fly out by junior Haley Barnette and scoring on a RBI sacrifice bunt by junior Mariel Bertossi.
- West Florida tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning before plating three runs in the bottom of the third inning to extend their lead to 4-1.
- The Falcons managed to load the bases in the top of the sixth inning when sophomore Brooke Ingram led off the frame with a walk followed by back-to-back singles by sophomore Carlee Mullinax and senior Lady Sarah Federico, but Montevallo left all three on base to end the inning.
- Montevallo trimmed the Argonauts' lead to 4-2 following a RBI single by Ingram with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, but West Florida retired the next batter to sweep the doubleheader.
UP NEXT
The Falcons will travel to Jackson, Tennessee for a three-game series on the road at Union University this weekend in Gulf South Conference play.
