VALDOSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team fell to nationally-ranked Valdosta State University 5-2 in a Gulf South Conference match March 26.
The Falcons fell to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in Gulf South Conference play following the match.
Sophomore Georg Trompler, recently ranked No. 65 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II singles' rankings, defeated No. 11 Jordi Mas of Valdosta State 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles' match.
Freshman Tobias Rauch topped the Blazers' Robert Cizek 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 6 singles' match.
Despite dropping two doubles' matches and the doubles' point, sophomores Milan Ludlage and Brecht Van Buggenhout took down Cizek and Xavi Pineda of Valdosta State 7-6 in the No. 3 doubles' match.
The Falcons will return to action Thursday, March 28 on the road at the University of West Florida in another Gulf South Conference match.
